Applications are invited for the post of Associate Professor of Inorganic Chemistry in the Department of Chemistry. The successful candidate will also be appointed to a Tutorial Fellowship at Lady Margaret Hall, under arrangements described in the Job Description and Selection Criteria. The appointment will be initially for 5 years at which point, upon completion of a successful review, the postholder will be eligible for reappointment to the retiring age.

We are seeking to appoint a candidate in the field of computational inorganic chemistry. We would particularly welcome applications from candidates whose research complements that of current members of Faculty, and aligns with the ‘Theory and Modelling in Chemical Sciences’ Research Theme of the Department. Complementary interests with any of the other seven research themes identified by the Department of Chemistry: (1) Catalysis; (2) Advanced Functional Materials and Interfaces; (3) Kinetics, Dynamics and Mechanism; (4) Chemistry at the Interface with Biology and Medicine; (5) Innovative Measurement and Photon Science; (6) Synthesis; (7) Energy and Sustainable Chemistry would also be welcomed.

Candidates should hold a doctorate in a field relevant to inorganic Chemistry, and have a very strong track record, or show outstanding promise, in independent research. They should be able to demonstrate their ability to attract research funding from appropriate sources. If already in an academic position, they should provide evidence of the ability to lead a group of researchers at different career stages. They should be able to demonstrate excellence (or the potential for excellence) in teaching at undergraduate and graduate levels, and participate in the administration of the subject and in the wider life and governance of the College.

The post will be based in the Department of Chemistry, South Parks Road, Oxford, OX1 3QR and Lady Margaret Hall, Norham Gardens, Oxford OX2 6QA. The combined University and College salary will be according to experience on a scale from £50,300 – £67,541 p.a. Benefits of the Fellowship at Lady Margaret Hall include a college accommodation allowance of £10,055. An allowance of £2,931 p.a. would be payable upon award of Full Professor title.
