The TYC Materials Modelling lecture course provides an in-depth introduction into advanced topics of computational materials science and simulations, designed to be of interest to PhD students and postdocs across the Thomas Young Centre and MMM Hub. A 22-session course covers topics such as Density Functional Theory, Molecular Dynamics and Quantum Monte Carlo simulations as well as nucleation theory, accurate calculations of phonons and excited states in solids, and advanced methods of structure prediction.
Open to all students/postdocs from across the TYC, delivered by top experts in the field of materials and molecular modelling from universities from London and Cambridge.
The course will be delivered via a combination of pre-recorded and live lectures and tutorials at 1pm on Wednesdays via Zoom. Tutorials will be your opportunity to ask questions, discuss important points and look at examples from the recordings/lecture notes which will be published one week before the scheduled session.
