Enhanced photocatalytic water splitting with two-dimensional van der Waals heterostructures of BAs/WTeSe

Boosting Photocatalysis with 2D Heterostructures.

A team led by Azeem Nabi at University of Gujrat (Pakistan) and Devis Di Tommaso (Queen Mary University of London) explored computationally van der Waals heterostructures combining boron arsenide (BAs) and Janus MXY monolayers (M = W; X/Y = Se, Te).

These stable structures exhibit direct bandgaps, making them ideal for water splitting. Keep an eye on BAs/WTeSe—they’re promising for future photocatalytic applications!
