14 October 2026 @ 3:30 pm 6:00 pm

We are delighted to invite you to our in-person TYC Welcome Event, an opportunity to meet fellow PhD students and researchers, discover the many benefits of being part of the Thomas Young Centre, and begin building your professional and social network within our vibrant interdisciplinary community.

Whether you are new to London, new to research, or simply keen to learn more about the opportunities available through TYC, this event is designed to help you feel connected and supported from the start of your PhD journey.

During the event, a panel of current TYC PhD students and postdoctoral researchers will share their experiences, answer your questions, and provide insights into life as a researcher, as well as the many activities, opportunities, and ways to get involved in the TYC community.

To help shape the discussion, please tell us a little about your PhD research topic and submit one or more questions you would like the panel to address. You can ask about anything, from settling into life in London and building collaborations to managing the challenges and rewards of undertaking a PhD. All questions will be presented and answered anonymously.

To register, please email Karen at tyc-administrator@ucl.ac.uk with your confirmation of attendance, your PhD topic, and your question(s). Event details will be sent to registered participants.

We look forward to welcoming you to the TYC community!
