AI+ Academic Fellowships
Institute: King’s College London
Closing date: 19 May 2025
King’s AI+ Initiative
College London is engaged in a major strategic investment in “AI+”, focused on AI innovation and application applied to any/all areas of research – including health, humanities, biosciences, social sciences, arts, business and law, and physical/mathematical sciences.
We aim to bring the full potential of AI to research across King’s, building on existing world-class expertise in a range of areas. We have therefore created 20 AI+ Academic Fellowships, which will grow our AI+ academic community by investing in the brightest minds worldwide. We are committed to recruitment processes which engage all dimensions of society.
The AI+ Academic Fellowships offer 3 years of 80% “protected” research time, with minimal education/administrative responsibilities, enabling awardees to focus on establishing outstanding research programmes. After this period, subject to a 3-year review, there will be a gradual transition over the next 2 years to the standard requirements for open-ended academic posts in the host Faculty. Through this structure, we aim to develop the research leaders of the future.
Fellows will be expected to spend their “non-protected” time working with their host Faculty and the King’s AI Institute to contribute to a vibrant community of AI expertise, and engaging in the development and modification of UG/PGT education programmes that include or are informed by AI approaches.
Appointments will usually be made at either Level 7 (Fellow) or Level 8 (Senior Fellow) of our Research job family. Please see Person Specification for the role criteria at each level.
Key Responsibilities
